Chapin Beach at the northwest corner of Dennis is a favorite among owners of four-wheel-drive vehicles, which are allowed with a permit. At the end of this beach peninsula you can view Barnstable Harbor to your left and the lighthouse of Sandy Neck beach across the water.

At low tide, those looking for shellfish will delight in being able to walk more than a mile out on the tidal flats of Cape Cod Bay. At high tide, it is a great place to fish from shore. And at nightfall this is one of the most beautiful beaches to watch a sun set on Cape Cod.

The beach has no lifeguards and no restrooms, but portable toilets are available. There is limited parking, which cost $10 per day.

How to get there: Take historic Route 6A through Dennis; turn down New Boston Road (you will see Dennis Public Market across the street) and immediately bear right onto BEACH ST; follow about 1 mile. You will see the Cape Cod Beach Chair Company Store where the road forks. Bear left and continue to the end to Chapin Beach.
